stupid steam...

We all know steam is fucked up, but here is just something i recently discovered. Not really useful, but still somewhat interesting...

here is some of the 'math' that steam uses for there community profiles...

did you ever wonder where these fucked up numbers come from in the url for your community link? here is mine: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197963074267 (click it... its real...)

now you would think that they have some high tech method to create this number using some complex formula and shit. well, yeah, there is a formula, but it kind of seems like they pulled some of these numbers out of there ass.

so yeah, the only piece of information you need to get this number is your steamID.

STEAM_0:1:1404269 <= There is Mine

so the first number (0) is useless, the second (1) is needed, and the third part (1404269) is the main part...

here is the formula:
(third part) * 2 + 76561197960265728 + (second part)
1404269 * 2 + 76561197960265728 + 1 = 76561197963074267

so wheres that huge fucking number come from? and why is it so important if its just being added to the equation? and whats the point of the + 0 or + 1 at the end? either way its going to be unique. why not just use the normal steamid right in the url?

yeah... so... now you know...
does 76561197960265728 have a meaning? if anyone knows please let me know because that's gonna bug me wondering where the fuck they come up with these things?

They just created the Steam Community Profiles, guess they didn't bother to do it by Steam ID's :O.

yeah i had my copy of cs a week after it came out .. but i lost that cd key

i got cs when it was a free trial on WON :\.
I stopped playing during the conversion to steam, and by the time i registered it was only a 5 digit

Edit: I just decided to log onto my old account to see if it still works... It was banned way back in 1.3, and I remember logging on not too long ago and it was still banned. but now when I look at it, my valve status is 'In good standing' o.0. It was fucked up when I got banned because I remember it said my account will be unbanned like 6 years or some fucked up shit like that and so I just went out and bought a new one. It looks like valve actually honored the WON 'temporary' bans :O
